The Outer Banks of North Carolina has long been a vacation, surfing and fishing destination for 250,000 or so visitors each summer. And in the off-season winter months, the 35,000 year-round residents maintain a thriving resort community. In response to their healthcare needs, The Outer Banks Hospital opened our doors in the spring of 2002 to provide first-rate healthcare services to residents and visitors alike.
Located in Nags Head, The Outer Banks Hospital is a full service, not-for-profit critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. Here you will find the latest advances in healthcare and technology, including the best in emergency, surgery, birthing and diagnostic services. Our all-digital Radiology Department offers rapid diagnosis using multislice CT, fixed MRI, ultrasound and radiography technology. Other services include mammography, lab work and our blood bank, as well as physical, respiratory, occupational and speech therapies.
Providing high quality care in a compassionate environment to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay, the hospital has been nationally recognized for our outstanding patient satisfaction. Additionally, we are accredited by The Joint Commission. Our partners, University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina and Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, are a testament to the level of commitment they share for the people of the Outer Banks.
