Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation to The Outer Banks Hospital Cancer Program

The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) has granted a Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation to The Outer Banks Hospital Cancer Program. The program met or exceeded 34 CoC quality care standards. Three-year Accreditation with Commendation is awarded only to a facility that exceeds standard requirements at the time of its triennial survey.

To address the alarmingly low human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine rates in our community with an evidence-based outreach strategy, The Outer Banks Hospital disseminated an educational campaign to primary care physicians and parents of adolescents in order to improve public health outcomes. Joint Commission, Award, Quality

Joint Commission

The Outer Banks Hospital again earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ in 2016 by demonstrating compliance with The Commission’s national standards for healthcare quality and safety. Over the course of 2-days in September, OBH underwent a rigorous, unannounced on-site survey by a team of Joint Commission expert surveyors who evaluated compliance with standards related to a variety of areas.
