NAGS HEAD, N.C.—The Outer Banks Hospital delivered its first baby of the new year at 3:01 pm on Monday, January 4th. Delivered by Dr. Timothy Kling, Maria Haranovich weighed seven pounds, eight ounces, and was 20 inches in length. She was born to Katsiaryna Koniukh and Ruslan Haranovich of Kill Devil Hills.

“Every birth we take part in is truly special, but especially the first one of the year”, said Karen Ciero, RN, BSN, Director of the Labor and Delivery Department at The Outer Banks Hospital. “For the past five years, the hospital has averaged more than 400 newborn deliveries per year, and we continue to offer the latest in healthcare advances and technology, including two Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum rooms, one Level-1 nursery bed and a five-bed nursery in the Labor and Delivery Department. All rooms support a family concept with Jacuzzi tubs, glider rockers and built-in window seats”, added Ciero.
