With the recent opening of The Outer Banks Hospital's CANCER RESOURCE CENTER, the Development Council of The Outer Banks Hospital completed their two year long mission of raising funds for this latest service offered to cancer patients and their families and friends. For their third challenge, the Flights of Fancy Gala Committee embarked on a new Mission: helping to purchase diagnostic equipment for the fight against cancer.
FLIGHTS OF FANCY..........WITH BOND......JAMES BOND was an exciting evening, complete with James Bond clones, the "Bond" girls, glitzy automobiles, visual images, and readily identifiable "'Bond" theme songs. The event sold out for the third year in a row and netted more than $111,000 for the worthy cause.
“We had a tremendous amount of help from the business and professional community,” said Margaret Wells, who chaired the event. “I am overwhelmed by the generosity of our Outer Banks residents.”
The group, composed of business leaders and concerned citizens of the area, has made cancer their focus for three years, raising over $300,000 for cancer services. Cancer is the leading cause of death in Dare County and The Outer Banks Hospital has positioned itself as a leader in providing services and health information.
“It has been amazing and rewarding to see our community rally around a cause,” said Bob Middlebrooks, Chairman of the hospital’s Board of Directors. “This makes us even more conscious of good stewardship and the mandate that we have been given to continue to offer quality healthcare to our citizens.”
