With support provided by Outer Banks Health Development Council, Outer Banks Health is able to provide free screening mammograms and free lung cancer screenings in accordance with clinical screening guidelines to individuals who do not have health insurance coverage that pays for the screenings.

Additional Screenings

Because we live in a community that works and plays outdoors, Outer Banks Health also offers free Skin Cancer Screenings through our Department of Community Outreach.  The screening is a basic check of any moles or spots identified by the patient and causing them worry.  This service is offered because people who live and work in our community are often concerned about their skin.  Let it be noted that the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force has concluded that there is not enough evidence to recommend for or against routine screening (total-body examination by a clinician) to find skin cancers early. This recommendation is for people who do not have a history of skin cancer. For more information about free skin check screenings available in the area check out our classes and events tab or contact the Community Outreach & Development Department at 252-449-4529.
