“Making Space for Tranquility After Cancer”:
A Virtual Event Celebrating Cancer Survivors Day 2020

Chair Yoga

Chair yoga is a very gentle form of yoga designed to increase flexibility, strength, balance and circulation. It goes beyond typical exercises in that it encourages quiet reflection, proper breathing and better posture. The chair replaces the yoga mat allowing patients to take full advantage of yoga’s fitness and health potential.

Beginning an exercise program can break the cycle patients experience while undergoing cancer treatment. Chair yoga can reduce fatigue and assist patients to return to daily activities. Yoga is one of many exercise and wellness options for people of all ages. As with all exercise program, patients should first check with their physician to make sure an exercise routine is appropriate.

Look Good, Feel Better

The Outer Banks Hospital Cancer Services has partnered with the Look Good Feel Better Foundation, the Professional Beauty Association and community cosmetologists and estheticians to provide the Look Good Feel Better Program for local cancer patients. Trained beauty professionals demonstrate makeup techniques, wigs and scarves to help women with cancer cope and adjust to the side effects of treatment (hair loss and changes to skin complexion and nails).

The program is provided free of charge to all female cancer patients.

During this time, we will also be offering these sessions virtually. Please call Marie at 252-449-5935 to enroll in a session.

Lunch & Learn Workshops

Working with UNC Cancer Outreach, The Outer Banks Hospital and UNC sponsor a monthly noon-time workshop on various cancer topics. There is no fee to attend and a complimentary light lunch is served.

Visit our Classes and Events page for exact days and times.
