Accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), The Outer Banks Hospital performs lab testing on children and adults with the highest standards to ensure safety.
Our laboratory is under the medical direction of East Carolina University Regional Pathology, ECU Brody School of Medicine, Greenville, NC, a regional pathology practice of board certified and sub-specialty certified Pathologists. Richard J. Baltaro, MD serves as the laboratory medical director and is affiliated with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and Vidant Health based in Greenville, NC.
Each of our Medical Technologists, Medical Technicians and Support Technicians are registered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, a standard of excellence in the laboratory field. Our laboratory participates in internal/external quality programs, staff competency assessments and regular professional education to ensure a high level of professional expertise and quality testing.
The Outer Banks Hospital Laboratory is the only CAP-accredited blood bank on the Outer Banks.
