KIWANIS CLUB MAKES DOLL DONATION TO THE OUTER BANKS HOSPITAL

NAGS HEAD, N.C.—The Outer Banks Kiwanis Club recently donated a collection of “Kiwanis Dolls” to The Outer Banks Hospital’s Emergency Department. The dolls, assembled and distributed through the cooperative efforts of the United Methodist Women’s Group of the Duck United Methodist Church and the Outer Banks Kiwanis Club, will be used in the hospital’s Emergency Department so that children may communicate where they hurt or keep themselves occupied while the hospital’s medical staff takes care of their family member.

“A visit to the emergency room for a young child can be a stressful experience,” said Van Smith, President of The Outer Banks Hospital. “These dolls will be wonderful distraction to our sick children as they recover. They will also allow our staff to take an extra step and ensure that even our youngest patients are able to effectively communicate with us so that we can provide them with compassionate and comprehensive care,” added Smith.

The Kiwanis Club’s Doll Program makes and distributes approximately 100 dolls each year to local medical facilities. More than 50% of these are donated to The Outer Banks Hospital.
