STAN WHITE ELECTED VICE CHAIRMAN FOR HOSPITAL’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

NAGS HEAD, N.C.—Stan M. White has been elected to serve a three-year term as Vice Chairman of The Outer Banks Hospital’s Board of Directors. White, a native of Dare County, and owner of Stan White Realty & Construction, was appointed to the hospital board in 2000. “I have served on many diverse boards, commissions, and committees and have found my work as a director of The Outer Banks Hospital to be one of the most rewarding of my career,” said White. “It is an honor to be elected vice-chairman and I am looking forward to working more closely with the hospital’s administrative staff.”

White, who attended Manteo High School and is a graduate of East Carolina University, currently serves as both the Governor’s Appointee to the North Carolina Board of Transportation and the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors. “Stan not only owns a very successful business here in Dare County,” said Bobby Owens, Chairman of the hospital’s board of directors, “he also brings us the insights and perspectives of someone who interacts with government at the state level which can be extremely helpful.”

In addition to his work at the state level, White has held many leadership positions locally including former Chairman and member of the Dare County Board of Commissioners, former Chairman of the Dare County Social Services Board, Past Director of the Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce and Director Emeritus of the Outer Banks Community Foundation.

“Health care is in the midst of a sea-change,” said hospital President Van Smith. “We need people like Stan White, who have strong roots to the community while at the same time retaining flexibility and focus. I welcome his leadership during these uncharted times.”

White’s father was active in the community, serving many years as chairman of the Dare County Board of Commissioners and later as a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives. White, and his wife, Susie, live in Nags Head, as does their son, John, who works in the family business.
