Outer Banks, NC – To English fox hunters being “in the pink” was a phrase used when the rider had reached the pinnacle of achievement in the hunt. Today, Outer Banks businesses like Gateway Bank are truly “in the pink” – making great strides in raising funds for breast cancer awareness and treatment by participating in The Outer Banks Hospital Development Council’s GET PINKED! Campaign.

Gateway Bank surpassed the $1,000 benchmark to become a Get Pinked! Partner by raising a second $1,000. The bank’s staff excelled at creative fundraising, which included bake sales, chili cook-offs, a marble-guessing contest, hot dog day and blue-jeans Fridays. All the Gateway branches participated in the campaign.

The Get Pinked! Campaign Partnered with twenty-seven businesses and organizations on the Outer Banks who joined together and pledged to give every woman and man in Dare County the very best chance to survive the disease of breast cancer.
