Nags Head, N.C. – The Outer Banks Hospital has named Beverly Jones, RN, BSN, OCN, as Director of Cancer Services. Jones will oversee the cancer services program, including the Medical Oncology Clinic, Radiation Therapy Center and Ambulatory Medical Unit. In her new role, Jones will direct a team of 25 health care professionals and work closely with Medical Oncologist William C. Guenther Jr., MD, and Radiation Oncologist Charles H. Shelton, MD. This prestigious leadership assignment includes maintaining the cancer program’s American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer Accreditation.
“Beverly managed the first full-time oncology practice located on the Outer Banks, and was the first nurse on the Outer Banks to receive the Oncology Certified Nurse credential. Beverly is highly qualified for this role, and I am looking forward to working with her more closely,” shared Dr. Guenther.
A seasoned veteran with TOBH Cancer Services, Jones most recently served as its Assistant Nurse Manager responsible for overseeing clinical staff and patient care since September 2020. For five years prior to her current role, she was team lead at TOBH Radiation Therapy Center. “I’ve worked alongside Beverly for many years and have come to depend on her expertise, calming nature and compassionate heart,” noted Dr. Shelton. “We are so fortunate to now have her in this key role. I know she will continue to elevate the work done here in Cancer Services.”

The need for leadership that oversees and ensures high-quality, compassionate care is imperative. Beverly will do great things.”
TOBH is currently engaged in a capital campaign to fund a cancer center that will be built across the street from the main campus. “For the better part of a decade, we’ve envisioned a building where all cancer services could be accessed under one roof,” said Ronnie Sloan, FACHE, President of TOBH. “As we move through the campaign and then the construction phase of this new facility, having Beverly at the helm underscores my confidence in our ability to continue providing excellence in cancer care to the great people of Dare County and our surrounding region.”
