The Outer Banks Hospital and its outpatient/endoscopy team has been ranked #1 by its patients, which is remarkable considering that most folks would not rate a tube snaking through their bodies as one of life’s outstanding pleasures. HealthStream, a healthcare market research organization, recently recognized the hospital with an “Excellence Through Insight” award and commended hospital personnel for providing the highest standards in patient care.
“This award speaks to the physicians, the nurses, the technicians, the unit secretaries and the volunteers who interact with our patients, 24 hours a day, 7 days week,” said Cynthia Nilson, Perioperative Director at the hospital. “They’re the ones who’ve earned this outstanding rating and we are extremely proud of them.”
“It’s an honor to be receive the ‘Excellence’ award,” said Dr. Demetri Poulis who performs endoscopies at the hospital. “It’s a pleasure to work with a professional team who is committed to the patients and their families.”
To qualify for an award, a hospital must have been a patient satisfaction-tracking client of HealthStream research in 2006 and surveyed a minimum of 100 patients. To date, HealthStream Research represents more than 1,100 healthcare facilities nationwide.
