Ms. Schwartzenberg is charged with leading the hospital’s efforts in outreach to the community and growing the capacity of the Development Council, the hospital’s fundraising arm. She began her post as the Director of Community Outreach and Development on January 11, 2016.
“The Outer Banks Hospital is different from your average community hospital in many ways. We offer more services than you might expect. Our community outreach program really is in the forefront of much of what we do, helping us know what the community needs are and helping us to meet those needs. Jennifer brings a lot of energy and insight to her role and we are pleased to have her join our team,” shared Ronnie Sloan, President of The Outer Banks Hospital.
The Outer Banks Hospital is also in the information gathering phase of an initiative that could possibly lead to the construction of a Cancer Center here on the Outer Banks. “Jennifer’s fundraising experience and organizational skills will be key to bringing this important project to fruition,” added Sloan.
Ms. Schwartzenberg is a graduate of Penn State University. She has served as a Public Relations Coordinator for the New York Rangers, Director of Special Events for the March of Dimes in NYC, and Director of Community Initiatives for The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. Jennifer moved to the Outer Banks nearly two years ago and served for one year as the Director of Programs and Advertising Sales for the Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce before joining the hospital.
In addition to her work, Ms. Schwartzenberg enjoys spending time with her husband Jeff and four year old daughter Kaitlyn. Ms. Schwartzenberg is a member of the Outer Banks Women’s Club and Kitty Hawk Rotary, and serves on the board for the Outer Banks Children @ Play Museum. She enjoys participating in local events, spending time at the beach, and running.
