NAGS HEAD, N.C.—Customer service is loosely defined as a series of activities that enhance the level of customer satisfaction, but Leo Tolstoy may have defined it best when he stated “the vocation of every man and woman is to serve other people.” And serving other people is something that Tara Holt-Salch exemplifies each and every day. Tara comes to work with a can-do attitude that leads her to always make time for patients at Dare Medical Associates in Manteo. And, in part, it’s the reason she was selected as Employee of the Month for November at The Outer Banks Hospital.

“Tara takes great pride in her work and has accomplished quite a number of improvement projects since coming to work at Dare Medical Associates,” said Vonda Leffler, Practice Manager at The Outer Banks Hospital. “She has a very challenging job, but always has time for patients of the clinic. And she stresses teamwork in her department, leading the way by assisting the rest of the staff,” added Leffler.” “All-in-all, Tara is the kind of employee that makes you proud to know.”

Dare Medical Associates became part of The Outer Banks Hospital in late 2008 in order to ensure that the Roanoke Island and Mainland communities of Dare County continue to have access to quality medical services in the primary care environment. Salch joined the practice as Clinic Coordinator in March 2009 and hasn’t looked back in helping patients to the best of her abilities. And with the addition of Dr. Cara Sumners, who joined the medical staff at Dare Medical Associates as a Family Physician this past summer, Salch is busier than ever.

“The staff here at Dare Medical Associates serves our community with care, support and time,” said Salch. “It is inspiring to work with a wonderful group of people that truly understands their community and how to meet their needs. The support of The Outer Banks Hospital contributes by giving us better opportunities for quality of care for each patient through staffing, updating office/medical equipment, and the whole University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina network with endless resources,” added Salch.

Before joining Dare Medical Associates and The Outer Banks Hospital, Tara was self-employed and worked with her husband, Brett, who is a Master Electrician and owns Live Wire Electrical. She was also a stay-at-home mom to now five-year-old daughter, Mya Nicole, who just started kindergarten. A native of Norfolk, Va, Tara’s family eventually settled in Nags Head, and she went to high school in Manteo. Tara and her family now reside in Kill Devil Hills.
