The Outer Banks Hospital welcomed the “First Baby of 2013” on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Baby boy Jordan Loeza Lopez was delivered at The Outer Banks Hospital at 10:04 am and weighed in at 8 lbs. 13 oz.
The New Year’s first baby is celebrated every year. “Every new baby is special at the Outer Banks Hospital but the first baby of the year is highly anticipated,” said Lisa McGaha, Director of Labor & Delivery. “Each year is different, so you never know what to expect. One year the New Year Baby did not arrive until January 6th.”
“The Outer Banks Hospital continues to offer the latest in healthcare and technology. For the past nine years, we have averaged more than 400 newborn deliveries per year,” said McGaha. The Outer Banks Hospital’s state-of-the-art labor and delivery department includes two Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum rooms, one Level-1 nursery bed and a five-bed nursery. All rooms support a family-oriented concept with Jacuzzi tubs, glider rockers and built-in window seats designed with the new family’s comfort in mind.
