The Outer Banks Hospital has partnered with UNC for a free community Lunch and Learn Presentation on Friday, April 5th from 12-1 p.m.

This Lunch & Learn Topic is “Recognizing Anxiety and Depression When Facing Cancer” presented by Liz Sherwood, RN, MS, ANP-C.

Liz Sherwood has been a patient counselor/advanced practice nurse at The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center since 1998. She has worked with all the multidisciplinary programs at UNC as well as Caregiver Support, Stress Reduction/Mindfulness, Seasons of Survivorship and various educational groups. She is an integral part of multidisciplinary programs including patient assessment and interventions for patients and family members during active treatment stage & after. Her goal is to make sure patients are more aware of the resources available to survivors and to advocate for patients to get the services they need in their transition from active treatment to survivorship.

The Lunch & Learn Workshop will be held at the Cancer Resource Center (located on the second floor of the Medical Office Building, adjacent to the Outer Banks Hospital) at 4810 Croatan Highway, Suite 220, Nags Head, NC.


Seating is limited and registration is requested. A complimentary light lunch will be served.

UNC Nurse Navigators are available to assist patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals with cancer related support, at no charge. The Outer Banks Hospital’s Cancer Resource Center is open to the public with computers available for use. There are staff members available to assist with internet searches.
