Looking for a way to get active, commemorate loved ones, and support local cancer care? The Outer Banks Hospital is bringing back the annual one-mile walk against cancer… and this year, your dog is invited too! In addition to the walk, there will be several dog-focused activities. Free flu vaccines for 18+ participants will be available. This event will be held in adherence with CDC and local health department guidelines.

Pre-registration for teams, walkers and dogs has ended. If you would like to participate in the Power Over Cancer Walk and Wag event, come to the Registration Area tomorrow (Saturday, October 30) between 9:00am and 11:00am to register on-site. Thank you!

WAYS TO PARTICIPATE

Limited TEAM SPONSORSHIP opportunities are available for $500. To register a team, call 252-449-5933.

• Company or individual name mentioned on all walk materials
• Team of 15 walkers (with or without dogs) with access to all event activities

Register as an INDIVIDUAL WALKER for $25.

Registered walkers can REGISTER UP TO 2 DOGS for only $15 each. (Use the same link above.)

• Opportunity for dog(s) to participate in the one-mile walk
• Access to dog activities: Obstacle Course, Pet/Owner Pictures, Photo Contest, Paw Print Painting, and more
• Commemorative Cancer Walk and Wag collapsible dog bowl
• Dog snacks and water stations
• Limit 2 dogs per walker. Dogs must be leashed at all times.

‘CUTEST PET CONTEST’ AND ‘BEST PET HALLOWEEN COSTUME’

Please remember to bring cash or checks to vote for Cutest Pet and Best Pet Halloween Costume at the event!

Photos will be displayed in front of money collecting bags. Money will be used for voting. The animal in each category with the highest amount of money in their bag at the end of the event, will be declared the winner. Winners will be announced via our website and social media on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 10:00am.

PROCEEDS

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the Cancer Walk and Wag remain on the Outer Banks to benefit free programs and services that are provided for local cancer patients, including: cancer screenings, support groups, wig program, and Look Good, Feel Better. We all know someone who has faced the devastating effects of cancer, and the community’s support of this fundraising effort will make a difference for our patients. Our community’s generosity is critical to our mission of treating and healing those affected by this horrible disease.
